One score from 0 to 100 instead of five different numbers in the coach's head
Performance Readiness Score combines sleep, heart-rate variability (HRV), recent training load (ACWR), jump height, and subjective wellness into one clear score with a traffic light — green, yellow, orange, red. The coach sees every player's readiness in 10 seconds before practice, instead of holding five spreadsheets in their head.
The readiness traffic light — three players, one morning
Same day, three different profiles. The coach doesn't read four separate numbers — they see one score and know who needs a lighter load today.
Good sleep, HRV within range, recent load is balanced. Ready to train at full intensity.
Readiness Score is a training reference based on the player's personal baseline — not a medical indicator and not an injury diagnosis.
What the score is made of
Four sub-scores with different weights combine into the overall score. The weights are set so recovery and accumulated load matter more than a single subjective feeling.
Recovery
Sleep and heart-rate variability (HRV) — how well the body recovered overnight
Load / ACWR
Acute-to-chronic load ratio — whether the player is overloaded relative to their own norm
Neuromuscular / CMJ
Countermovement jump height — an objective marker of neuromuscular readiness
Wellness questionnaire
Subjective wellness, muscle soreness, motivation, stress — a 30-second check-in
A personal baseline, not a generic norm
The score isn't calculated against an abstract "norm for the age" — it's built from the player's own 28-day rolling baseline, with z-scores for deviation and a confidence indicator (little data in the first weeks means the score honestly shows low confidence instead of guessing).
| Source | Frequency | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Sleep | Daily | Duration and quality of last night's sleep |
| HRV | Daily, morning | Heart-rate variability — a marker of nervous-system recovery |
| sRPE / load | Every session | Session RPE × duration → acute and chronic load (ACWR) |
| CMJ jump | 2–3 times a week | Countermovement jump height, via smartphone or contact mat |
| Wellness questionnaire | Daily | Sleep, mood, energy, muscle soreness, motivation, stress — 30 seconds |
The four traffic-light zones
Full readiness — train at normal or increased volume
Slightly reduced — coach adjusts volume or intensity
Noticeable deviation — conversation with the player, possible session changes
Significant deviation — recovery is the priority, coach decides on load
What we deliberately don't do
We don't diagnose or ban players from playing. The score is a reference for the coach — load decisions are always made by a person, not the algorithm.
We don't compare players to each other. The score is built from each player's own baseline — a "who's better" comparison is meaningless and isn't shown.
We don't publish the raw score to parents without context. Parents see a plain-language trend, not raw HRV and ACWR numbers without explanation.
How this differs from what's out there
| Category | What it offers |
|---|---|
| Wearables on their own | Separate charts for sleep, HRV, steps — the coach has to combine them into a decision themselves |
| Paper wellness questionnaires | Subjective part only — no objective load or jump data |
| Professional GPS systems | Powerful, but overkill and expensive for youth-level teams |
| Performance Readiness Score by Paideia | 4 sources in one score, personal baseline, a traffic light in 10 seconds — for a team at any level |
Important. Performance Readiness Score is a training tool that helps plan load — not a medical device and not a substitute for a doctor's examination in case of injury or pain.
